Cameron studies the ways in which visual features, such as color, are mentally represented and is also interested in the extent to which compression algorithms might provide a useful analogy for understanding how the mind simplifies processing. After reading Julian Jaynes’ treatise on consciousness he realized that we know little about consciousness and acquired an all-consuming desire to understand it.
